Simplicity | Creating A Zero Waste Home

Loves, this earthling is under the weather, but I couldn’t let this Earth Day go by without sharing a fun interlude with you that might well inspire us toward a more thoughtful way of living well.

I was delighted to have been invited to a webinar given by a former client earlier this week entitled, Creating A Zero Waste Home. You remember the guest suite project I began telling you about last time? This was that client, and one of the dreams she shared with me for her future finished guest suite was to be able to use it for hosting mini-retreats where she could gather women, make them comfortable, feed them well, and offer something they could all learn from or grow toward in relation to sustainability and holistic living. She has such a gift for gathering people and what a delight it was for me to share that vision with her as we saw the project move toward completion.

Alas, I think she was able to host just one retreat before the pandemic moved in, but thankfully for the rest of us, she’s taken the opportunity to share her thoughts and experience on creating a zero waste home to a wider audience and platform. The link to the webinar is here. And she’s written a wonderful guide that she’s given me permission to share with you here. I hope you enjoy (and learn!) as much as I did. What I so appreciate and agree with is, like she says, zero waste isn’t the goal, but less waste is. It’s a matter of learning, understanding, sharing ideas and practices, and doing our best.

Speaking of less waste, the latest inclusion in my journey is the clamp jars up there, thrifted for a couple dollars each. They keep things like fresh veggies and cooked rice so well, are easier to use than ring-and-lid canning jars, and look so pretty when I open the door to my fridge.

Be well, loves! (I’ll continue to take my vitamins, drink tea, and rest until I am, too)
